Diagnosis of fungal nail infections - simple and sensitive pathogen detection

New Product: Dermatophyte

Alternative practitioners for podiatry and dermatologists often experience nail fungus infections in their practice.
Loss of nail transparency, yellowing, cornification (keratosis) and a raise of the nail plate indicate an onychomycosis, but are not conclusive, because "without examination for fungal infections, the diagnosis of onychomycosis can not be made with sufficient certainty."*
In these cases, fungal cultures - if only spores or killed fungi are present in the nail – lead to false negative results: this is fatal for the therapy!

Therefore, there is now

                               PreventID® Dermatophyte

for nail fungus examination in the dermatological or podological practice.

The test
• is easy to carry out
• has excellent clinical significance
• delivers the result in a maximum of 30 minutes
• is a sensitive detection tool for five Trichophyton ssp., two Microsparum ssp.
and Epidermophyton floccosum

PreventID® Dermatophyte shows as well a high analytical sensitivity for the detection of dermatophytes: even 0.5 μg / ml show a positive result.
Sample material: cut and filed nail fragments, which can be gained during nail care or examination.
The test is suitable for the dermatological practice, for alternative practitioners for podiatry and for mobile use during home visits, because no additional devices or tools are needed.
