Frequently asked questions
How does Preventis SmarTest Pro® Vitamin D work?
The test is performed by health professional. It is easy and safe - in app instructions offer a guide throughout the whole process. A small amount of blood is painlessly taken from the fingertip and applied to the test cartridge. A few minutes later a picture of the test cartridge is taken using a smartphone camera. The specialized SmarTest Pro® Vitamin D app then calculates the results and displays them on the smartphone screen.
When should Vitamin D levels be measured?
Vitamin D plays an important role in our metabolism, especially in bone structure. The body can create vitamin D using sun light, and it is therefore also known as the “sun vitamin”. Unfortunately, a lack of sunlight during winter, a modern lifestyle, the use of sunscreen with high UV factor and not spending enough time outdoors, can quickly lead to a depletion of vitamin D. To stay healthy and to maintain the performance capability of the cells, vitamin D levels should be measured regularly. The best time to detect a deficiency, is after the dark months of winter.
If you take vitamin D supplements, regular check-ups on their efficiency would be recommended.
How accurate is this test?
Preventis SmarTest Pro® Vitamin D was calibrated on well-established laboratory tests. It offers reliable results of the amount of vitamin D contained in the blood sample.
